The fruit or berries of Sabal serrulata are used to make Saw palmetto tincture. These are the size of olives and contain an oil known simply as ‘saw palmetto oil’, rich in a substance called β-sitosterol. Saw palmetto berries are popular as a food supplement for many uses, including to help maintain the health of a normal prostate gland.

Food Supplement

Adult men: 10-15 drops twice daily, in a little water.

Prostasan^® contains an extract of Saw Palmetto berries. It is a registered traditional herbal remedy used for the relief of lower urinary symptoms of BPH in men with the diagnosis of benign prostatic hypertrophy.

Prostasan^® Saw Palmetto is a remedy for use in men over 18 years of age (including the elderly) who have been diagnosed by their doctors as having BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy) also known as an enlarged prostate.

Dosage of Prostasan^® Saw Palmetto capsules is one capsule daily with food.

Do not chew the capsule.

Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients

Do not take this product if you have any hereditary problems of fructose intolerance.

Prostasan^® Saw Palmetto capsules contain an extract of Saw Palmetto berries rich in oil. These are harvested from Saw Palmetto plants indigenous to parts of America and South America, without the use of artificial fertilisers, insecticides or fungicides.

Each Prostasan^® Saw Palmetto capsule contains 320mg of herbal extract (as soft extract) from Saw Palmetto fruit (or berries).

Other ingredients include gelatin, glycerol, sorbitol, iron oxide (red, black and yellow) and purified water.

Like all Saw palmetto products, Prostasan^® Saw Palmetto capsules may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Minor side effects
The following minor side effects can occur when using this product.
Digestive symptoms

• Belching
• Stomach discomfort

Skin reactions

• Rash
• Itching (pruritis)

If you feel this product isn’t working:

• If symptoms worsen consult a doctor as soon as possible.
• See your doctor immediately if you have:
  – Blood in your urine
  – A fever
  – Difficulty passing urine
• If no improvement is seen after 8 weeks treatment consult your doctor for further advice.
